Thermax® application

Thermax® can improve the melt flow index of black plastic compounds, resulting in reduced energy costs, improved productivity without capital investment and more highly loaded concentrates. Plastic article makers can benefit from better mold flow in highly filled compounds. As the least electrically conductive carbon black, it is the optimum choice for insulating applications.

Thermax® N990 was added to a polystyrene foam to evaluate its impact on processing, physical, and thermal insulation properties.
Thermax N990 as a Pigment in PVC Composites
Thermax® N990 was added to PVC composites leading to an improvement in weathering resistance and impact resistance.
Thermax N990 in HDPE Films
Thermax® N990 was added to HDPE film formulations with excellent dispersion. A black color with blue undertone was observed in the resulting films.
Polypropylene Pigment
Thermax® N990 was added to polypropylene at pigment loading levels. The capability of N990 to act as a UV stabilizer was evaluated using xenon arc weathering tests.
Thermoplastic Polyurethane
Thermax® N990 was added to foamed and unfoamed TPU formulations resulting in processing and physical property improvements.
Polyphenylene Sulfide
Thermax® N990 was added to a polyphenylene sulfide composite resulting in increased tensile modulus, higher heat deflection temperature, and excellent coloring.
Polypropylene
Thermax® N990 was added to a polypropylene composite leading to increased tensile modulus, higher heat deflection temperature, and excellent coloring.
