Cancarb remains committed to continuous improvement. A major step toward that goal was realized July 25th with the groundbreaking and announcement of the solar power project. 7000 solar panels will provide roughly 3.5 megawatts of renewable electricity to the thermal carbon black plant, complying with both municipal and provincial requirements of being a microgeneration project under 5 MW, strictly for self-supply. Cancarb’s location in Medicine Hat (the sunniest city in Canada, averaging 2,544 hours of sunshine per year) presents an excellent opportunity for solar panel usage.  <\/p>\n

The construction contract has been awarded to a local solar development company Terralta Inc., with construction commencing immediately and commissioning expected mid-2026.<\/p>\n
