David Carmichael has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Cancarb
Aug. 1, 2006 – Medicine Hat, Alta. Effective today, David Carmichael has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Cancarb. David replaces Ken Tate who returned to TransCanada Corporation as vice-president, Power Marketing West.
“This is an important time in Cancarb’s evolution as we have several large initiatives in front of us,” says David. “I look forward to working closely with the qualified experts at Cancarb to meet these challenges.”
David joins Cancarb from TransCanada, Cancarb’s parent company, where he held the role of director, Power Marketing West since June 2004. In this role, David was responsible for electricity marketing and the physical and financial performance of 2000 MW of electricity generating capacity.
Cancarb is the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of thermal carbon black with customers on six continents. The company also operates a power plant that uses waste heat from the carbon black process to produce approximately 26 megawatts of electricity for sale to the City of Medicine Hat. In addition, Cancarb has a significant distribution business, offering products complementary to its own to the rubber industry in the Americas.
